What on Earth Is  P.O.T.K.U.,
and Who Made It?

We have often been asked what is P.O.T.K.U., why is it here, and what is its purpose. For the first time in history, we are happy to use this opportunity and will answer all your questions on this page.

The title of our trust, P.O.T.K.U., is an acronym, derived from its Finnish-language title: Pienonnettomuuksien tutkintalautakunta, that is, an investigation board for petty accidents. Among other things, we mind the p’s and q’s the authorities won’t care about.

Contrary to a popular fallacy, God didn’t make P.O.T.K.U.we made it.

In essence, P.O.T.K.U. is a Finnish version of S.H.I.E.L.D. and we deal with the same kind of problems and the same kind of flamboyant ruffians, globally, as our American counterpart. Dr. Lång holds here a similar lead position as Captain America in S.H.I.E.L.D.* Because Finland is a smaller country than the United States, the scale our operations is more restrained, as you surely will understand. For instance, we rarely use any attack aircraft in our operations. (This may change, however, thanks to our current membership in the N.A.T.O.)

P.O.T.K.U. strives for a better world where books and newspapers will be free of poor grammar and other plagues, belfries free of bats, and bureaucracy** not an end in itself anymore.

We would also like to assure you that P.O.T.K.U. has been announced fully HYDRA-free since April July 1997 by local authorities.

* We neither appreciate nor condone the local nicknames “Kapteeni Kannelmäki” and “Agentti 00½.”
** No, this should not be spelled bureaucrazy. It is not funny.
